Why does the young man refer to her as a lily among the brambles?

Song of Solomon 2:2 (ESV)

2 As a lily among brambles, so is my love among the young women.

The young man responds to her assessment of her beauty, and he describes her as a lily among the brambles. In his eyes, she is not merely a flower among many. Her beauty makes all the other young women look plain—like brambles which are dry and have no beauty.
