The fall into sin introduced sorrow and weeping into God’s wonderful world (Genesis 3:16–19); in fact, due to the fall this life is a vale of tears (Psalm 6:6; Psalm 42:3). But restoration of harmony with God would result in the removal of all tears. Stronger, God himself would be the father figure who reaches out to remove the tear from his daughter’s cheek.
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
