Job had claimed that wicked people often prosper (Job 10:3). But, says Eliphaz, the truth is that the wicked suffers from torments and anxieties all his days.
Eliphaz will describe the fate of the wicked in general terms (Job 15:20–35). Yet, he is cruelly directing his words to Job’s own situation. Job is the wicked
man who suffers torments.
20 The wicked man writhes in pain all his days, through all the years that are laid up for the ruthless.
