What is significant about the use of the word “tent”?

Leviticus 14:7–8 (ESV)

7 And he shall sprinkle it seven times on him who is to be cleansed of the leprous disease. Then he shall pronounce him clean and shall let the living bird go into the open field.

The use of the word “tent” (’āhǒl) is deliberate. It is only used in Leviticus 14:1–57 to refer to the dwelling of ordinary citizens as opposed to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.
