Commentary on Job 12:14 (Summary)

Job 12:14 (ESV)

14 If he tears down, none can rebuild; if he shuts a man in, none can open.

In Job 12:14–25 Job describes some facts of life that cannot be explained away by the doctrine of retribution. For example, God sometimes tears down things that are valued by humans. He imprisons men so that they cannot escape. This Job can say from painful personal experience (see Job 7:1–3, Job 7:12).
