Genesis 2:9 (ESV)

9 And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The Lord has placed many trees in this garden. From the beginning, man may live in abundance. Two trees receive special attention. The Lord designates these as special trees. They are positioned in a place that man can easily recognize: the centre of the garden. The trees do not look much different from the other trees in the garden. They are like the other trees: “pleasant to the sight and good for food.” However, these two trees occupy a special position in paradise.
