Why is an animal from the herd mentioned first?

Leviticus 1:3 (ESV)

3 “If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish. He shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the LORD.

As the passage unfolds, Scripture indicates that different animals could be offered in accordance with the economic and social standing of the worshipper. An animal from the herd was the most valuable animal that people possessed during the time of Moses.
