Silvanus was an important minister of the gospel in the New Testament church. He first appears in connection with the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15. He was chosen, along with Judas called Barsabbas, to take the letter from the Jerusalem church to the believers in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia. Luke calls Silvanus a “leader among the brothers” and a prophet (Acts 15:22, Acts 15:32).
