L’Éternel n’est pas un Dieu faible et impuissant. Il n’est pas non plus un Dieu endormi. Il accomplit ce qu’il promet de faire. Il est réellement éveillé. Il voit ce que fait son peuple, et c’est la raison pour laquelle il vient en jugement. C’est là son juste châtiment, jusqu’à la destruction de Jérusalem et du temple. L’Éternel est juste. Il ne viendra jamais exécuter un châtiment injuste ou inéquitable. Le peuple ne doit s’en prendre qu’à lui-même.
14 Therefore the LORD has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.
