Ce qui rend l’exil pire encore, c’est de penser à tous les biens
qui appartenaient autrefois à Israël et à Jérusalem. Maintenant dans la souffrance, le peuple de Jérusalem se souvient de toutes les bénédictions de Dieu : la délivrance d’Égypte, le fait que Dieu habitait parmi eux, sa protection, ses enseignements, le service du temple, le pays merveilleux de Canaan et beaucoup de temps de paix. Ils pourraient encore avoir toutes ces choses, si seulement ils avaient écouté Dieu.
7 Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction and wandering all the precious things that were hers from days of old. When her people fell into the hand of the foe, and there was none to help her, her foes gloated over her; they mocked at her downfall.
