Peter encourages Christian believers to live holy lives whilst they look forward to the return of Christ. As Christians we wait in hope for a new world. We do so aiming to be people who can enter it rather than people who must perish with the old.1 The present world in which evil is dominant is coming to an end and it will be replaced by a world that knows only righteousness. Given this reality, we must live now as we hope to live then.
