If you only hear Jesus’ words, but do not let those words enter your heart and they do not result in an attitude and deeds befitting a citizen of the kingdom, this is fatal superficiality. Why so serious and fatal? Because you are not giving the heavenly love and mercy the place in your life that they should occupy. God’s love leaves you cold and Jesus could have stayed in heaven. If you are not fundamentally changed by God’s love you will be extremely ungrateful for God’s greatest gift. The fundamental change of a citizen of the kingdom should be seen and felt in love and mercy, as Jesus has taught above. If you do not take this teaching to heart, your life will eventually turn into a tragic ruin.
