1 Kings 16:5 is an example of the writer’s usual procedure when he is concluding his narrative concerning a particular king. He directs his reader to the source of more information concerning that king. In this case, it is “the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel." We are not to confuse this source to the Books of Chronicles in the Bible.
The author tells us that we would find there the rest of Basha’s acts, his deeds, and his might.
The word for might
here is a word that means something like male strength,
military strength, bravado, superiority, victory. No details are mentioned about these powerful deeds; we only read a reference to another book. The writer of the book of Kings does not aim for a complete overview of someone’s great achievements but values a kingship mainly on the responsible management of the religious life of God’s people. That is what you are king for.
5 Le reste des actions de Baescha, ce qu'il a fait, et ses exploits, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
