Paul reminds the Corinthians of God’s own character. He is a God of peace (see Galatians 5:22; Philippians 4:9). Therefore, his Spirit cannot be said to lead their worship services if their services are filled with disorder and confusion. This is an important part of Paul’s argument, especially given the Corinthians’ eagerness for the manifestations of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:12).
Paul introduces his next instruction by pointing to the example of all the other churches (see also 1 Corinthians 11:16).
