The psalms are songs of emotion. You can see deep into the hearts of God’s children (Martin Luther). Faith without emotion is not faith. Faith is alive through emotions. But it does not depend on emotion. Faith speaks from the Word and the promises of God. It is therefore also correcting emotions (see e.g., Psalm 42:5, Psalm 42:11).
