Considering whether the unity in the instruction leaves room for shifts

The unity in the instruction does not mean that there are no shifts. That is in part the result of interruption by third parties and of a deepening of what is being said by Jesus himself. In addition, however, there is also the fact that Mark summarizes a long discussion in a number of notes about its contents. We may expect from the reader that, considering the main line provided, he determine for himself how in this instruction there is a movement from one point to another.¹
