Commentary on 1 Corinthians 7:33–34 (Summary)

1 Corinthiens 7:33–34 (NEG79)

33 et celui qui est marié s'inquiète des choses du monde, des moyens de plaire à sa femme.

A married believer must be devoted to his or her spouse, as well as to the Lord. The word worldly is used in the sense of temporary (see 1 Corinthians 7:30b). Married life may present a greater temptation to get carried away by the temporary concerns of this world (see Mark 4:19; Luke 21:34).

In contrast, an unmarried believer is free to devote himself or herself to the Lord alone.
