Paul is not interested in encouraging his own supporters. He is against the Corinthians’ man-centred approach as a whole. Therefore, he is thankful that he had not added fuel to their fire by baptizing many of them. He had only baptized Crispus (who, before he came to faith, had been the synagogue ruler in Corinth, Acts 18:8) and Gaius.
