The excitement of inheritance

Joshua 13:1 – 19:51 includes many lists with odd names and strange places. These lists are important because they testify to the reality of life in the new creation. As we read about Hebron and the other names, we are meant to be encouraged that the new earth will be just as real as life was back in Canaan. Our hope is not in a new world where we float around on clouds while playing music, but a world where we will live in God’s presence, enjoying his creation without any effects of sin. That is the world to which we are looking forward as Christians.
