Though none of the cities are particularly prominent in later history, the region of Bashan does feature elsewhere in Scripture (see Amos 4:1). Bashan was a fertile region surrounded by mountains (Psalm 68:15), well-forested (Isaiah 2:13; Ezekiel 27:6) with smooth plateau ideal for pasturelands to produce fat cattle (Jeremiah 50:19; Ezekiel 39:18; Micah 7:14).1
