Psalm 139
Amos 9 begins with a focus on God’s omnipresence–there is nowhere we can escape from him. This theme is also evident in Psalm 139:1–12 and it would be good to sing these verses before your sermon.
Psalm 72
Amos 9 finishes with a vision of God’s perfect new creation under the rule of God’s perfect king. Psalm 72:1–11 is a celebration of this king’s rule, the king who is none other than Jesus Christ. It would be good to sing this psalm after your sermon.
