The seven churches are weak and vulnerable. John had been brought to heaven to receive encouragement (for himself and the churches) in the face of their weaknesses. That John sees the first horse going forth wearing the victor’s crown is encouraging in the face of human weakness. The Lord’s work of spreading the gospel and gathering his church shall certainly prevail on earth!
