Revelation 12:7–12 places the reader in heaven to observe what became of the dragon after his failed attempt to devour the child (Revelation 12:5). We are first given an account of a battle scene with its conclusion (Revelation 12:7–9), and then given heavenly commentary on the consequence of this battle (Revelation 12:10–12).
Thereafter, the reader’s attention is directed to the earth where the loser of the heavenly battle had been exiled (Revelation 12:13–17). This section relates how the loser takes out his frustration on the woman (Revelation 12:6) and her offspring.
