In the Bible, “truth” and “truthful” convey more than direct honesty. Truth is a matter of trustworthiness in everything we say and do. God’s Word is the Truth and will therefore stand forever John 17:17; Isaiah 40:8). And everything that is done in obedience to the Truth will also stand forever (1 Corinthians 15:58).
But the “lie” is that which is untrustworthy and quickly falls apart. The lie may seem strong, but it is a false strength. In the long run, lies and the lying tongue will not last.
