Jesus sees the rich man going away deeply saddened (Matthew 19:22). Then he turns to the bystanders and says, How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!
Wealth is therefore dangerous. It quickly captivates and has a hold on people. Before you know it, you become completely absorbed by your possessions. The result is that you lose sight of more important things, such as the kingdom of God.
24 Jésus, [voyant qu'il était devenu tout triste,] dit: Qu'il est difficile à ceux qui ont des richesses d'entrer dans le royaume de Dieu!
