4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work, for I am with you, declares the LORD of hosts,

The Lord wants to turn his people’s minds from despondency over what they think is true of themselves—we cannot match the past, and we cannot achieve in the present—to what is true about him. Three times he draws them to his word by repeating declares the Lord. Will they listen?1
