Why does Joseph eventually settle his family in Galilee?

Matthieu 2:21–22 (NEG79)

21 Joseph se leva, prit le petit enfant et sa mère, et alla dans le pays d'Israël.

En bref

Joseph fled to Galilee for safety for his family in obedience to a message from God, but God also intended this to be part of Jesus’ humiliation—another way in which he was exiled.

A new message from the Lord, which Joseph receives in a dream, makes it clear that Jesus’ entry into the holy land would form part of his humiliation. Jesus first has to hide in the region of Galilee, where Herod Antipas, a more lenient ruler than his brother, had become tetrarch. Joseph, as a righteous servant of the Lord, does not hesitate to undertake this unexpected and unappealing journey.1
