Is Lamentations 4:5 still referring to the children, or the adults?

Lamentations 4:5 (NEG79)

5 Ceux qui se nourrissaient de mets délicats Périssent dans les rues; Ceux qui étaient élevés dans la pourpre Embrassent les fumiers.

There is a difference of opinion among interpreters whether this verse is still referring to children, or to adults. Those who favour the former base their argumentation on the notion that the expression those who were brought up means being taken care of. On the other hand, the expression those who feasted on delicacies is not a typical reference to children, but is used in describing the lifestyle of those living in riches and extravagance. The one opinion cannot be decisively chosen over the other. Therefore, it is preferable to remain undecided and rather unite these two elements indicated by thinking of the children of the rich. Should it refer to children in general, or to the children of the rich, or to noble adults, the idea remains the same: those who had been provided with a luxurious life by their wealthy parents were used to the most refined and exquisite delicacies to eat and clothes to wear.1 In the notes elsewhere, it will also be treated in this general, all-inclusive way.
