1. Aggée 1:12 (NEG79)
  2. Explication du texte

How do the references to the Lord differ from those earlier in the chapter?

Haggai (Aggée) 1:12 (ESV)

12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him. And the people feared the LORD.

In Haggai 1:1–11 the references to the Lord are the Lord of hosts (Haggai 1:2, Haggai 1:5, Haggai 1:7, Haggai 1:9) or the Lord (Haggai 1:3, Haggai 1:8). But following the obeyed in this verse, the references are the Lord their God (twice in this verse) and the Lord of hosts, their God (Haggai 1:14). This seems to fit with the change among the people: they are returning to the Lord in obedience, and their confidence is renewed that the Lord is indeed their God.1
