The Lord literally says, You are running, each to his house.
This points up the commitment of the people to their own interests and agendas, while they neglect the house, God’s house. Whatever their own property needed, they hastened to get it, but they showed no similar zeal for the house of the Lord.
9 You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.
