It was already noted in Haggai 1:1 that the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai.
So why is thus says the Lord
added in Haggai 1:2? Is this not repetitive? No it is not. These words in Haggai 1:2 help us understand that what originated in God (Haggai 1:1) is then stated by him on earth, as if he were speaking in his own person.
2 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.”
