While the Egyptians were still groaning under the blows the Lord inflicted on them, the Israelites, as a free people, journeyed under God's guidance to the Promised Land. Thus the Lord fulfilled the promise he had once sworn to their ancestors. God's faithfulness to his once spoken word shone forth.
This is precisely what parents should say to their children, My child, see how the Lord keeps his promises. Discover this with us and learn to affirm it in your own life. We have a God who wants to redeem us from misery. He has proven this by miraculously lifting us from the house of slavery and bringing us to the Promised Land.
This is how the Lord always works in salvation history. A Christian may think here of Jesus who died on the cross at Golgotha and thus paid for our sins. Those who know themselves thus redeemed want nothing more than to thank God for this great gift. And they cannot remain silent about it with their children. Oh how dearly do believing parents want their children to be grateful to their heavenly Father for this wonderful work of salvation of the only begotten Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
