Israel had a long history of failure in observing the Sabbath. Judah’s fathers did not listen or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck, that they might not hear and receive instruction.
The warning to the people of Judah is that they were simply continuing this pattern of stubborn rejection of the Lord and his covenant.
