Other translations render the Hebrew word here as the Old Gate
(KJV, NASB, RSV). Either way, we know nothing about this gate. Perhaps its name has changed over the passage of time so that it is referred to elsewhere in the Bible under a different name. This gate would have to have been located somewhere along the western wall.
6 Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah repaired the Gate of Yeshanah. They laid its beams and set its doors, its bolts, and its bars.
