What sort of confrontation does David call for?

Psalm (Psaume) 17:13 (ESV)

13 Arise, O LORD! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,

David prays that the Lord would literally confront his face. David knows that his own enemy is also the Lord’s enemy, and therefore that the Lord is directly offended by the evil of the enemy. Thus, he calls for the Lord to personally confront the evil on his behalf.1
