In concise terms, Jesus again emphasizes that the disciples do know where He will soon be going. He is going to the Father. He is preparing everything in His Father’s house so that one day He may receive them with overflowing generosity. They can trust this completely.
But is that trust truly present? The very repetition of these words shows that Jesus knows this conviction is still lacking. And the proof that He has sensed this so clearly becomes immediately evident in the response of one of the disciples sitting with Him at the Passover table.
