How do we put on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Romains 13:14 (NEG79)

14 Mais revêtez-vous du Seigneur Jésus-Christ, et n'ayez pas soin de la chair pour en satisfaire les convoitises.

We can only truly care about our neighbour by 1. putting on the Lord Jesus, and together with this 2. not giving in to your own impulses: But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires (Romans 13:14). The verb that Paul uses for putting on the Lord Jesus Christ is the same one he had used in Romans 13:12 for putting on the armour of light. The new armour is more than merely a new style, for it entails giving yourself over to a new Lord with all of your body and soul. This personal bond with the Saviour is the only right starting point for living in the day, being girded with the weapons of the day. This is the exact opposite of being governed by the sinful flesh.1
