1. Néhémie 2:13 (NEG79)
  2. Explication du texte

How do the words, “I inspected the walls of Jerusalem,” fit with the preceding?

Nehemiah (Néhémie) 2:13 (ESV)

13 I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.

With these words, the picture is formed in our minds of Nehemiah observing the walls attentively as his donkey threads its way south from the Valley Gate and around the corner to and beyond the Dung Gate. As he makes his way, his ongoing observations provide information as to what is to be done along this section of wall and its gates to restore them to their needed state.
