1 Samuel 22:6–23 (NEG79)

6 Saül apprit que l'on avait des renseignements sur David et sur ses gens. Saül était assis sous le tamaris, à Guibea, sur la hauteur; il avait sa lance à la main, et tous ses serviteurs se tenaient près de lui.

What does 1 Samuel 22:6–23 reveal about what God the Son does in my place and on my behalf?

Jesus Christ is the King who was subjected to an unfair trial and killed on trumped-up charges. He is the only truly innocent man who ever lived and died. In his life, he was perfectly obedient to God and therefore did not deserve death but eternal life with God in glory. In his death, he bore the wrath of God against the sins of God’s people. Now, having been raised from the dead, he can offer refuge to those who come to him—refuge from the wrath to come when he returns in judgment and destroys all those opposed to God.
