[B]ut God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us
(Romans 5:8). Are there any among us who had requested this sacrifice? No, God sacrificed his Son before humanity longed for him and for his glory. Therefore, in a certain sense, the introduction to this verse, which speaks about how hard it is to die for a righteous person (Romans 5:7), stands in contrast to what Christ actually did, namely to lay down his life for the unrighteous.1,2
7 A peine mourrait-on pour un juste; quelqu'un peut-être mourrait pour un homme de bien.
