Persecution will take place alongside the other things that Jesus has mentioned (Matthew 24:4–7). Disciples must be ready and prepared for suffering, no matter where they find themselves. Since they are proclaiming the kingship of Jesus and calling all people to repentance and faith, they will face opposition from those who do not seek to submit to Christ (see Matthew 5:11; Matthew 10:18, Matthew 10:22, Matthew 10:25, Matthew 10:32–33, Matthew 10:38).
