Since the fall, all human beings have inherited a sinful nature (see Genesis 3:16; Genesis 6:5; Psalm 51:5; Mark 7:2–23). As a result, it is not possible for human beings to perfectly obey God’s law and render the obedience which he requires of those made in his image. Thus, it is not possible for people to fully obey the law of Moses and thereby earn God’s favour.1 The problem was not with the law but with people.
