While it is possible that the strengthening of Saul could refer to his physical recovery following his fast,1 it is much more likely that it relates to his increasing confidence and ability to proclaim Jesus as the Christ. The Greek verb used for becoming strong
denotes the inward strengthening of the Holy Spirit (see Ephesians 6:10; Philippians 4:13; 2 Timothy 4:17).2
