Why is it Judah’s “lot” to be scattered by the Lord, scattered like chaff?

Jérémie 13:25 (NEG79)

25 Voilà ton sort, la part que je te mesure, Dit l'Eternel, Parce que tu m'as oublié, Et que tu as mis ta confiance dans le mensonge.

The result of Judah’s evil behaviour is that the Lord will scatter the nation like chaff driven by the wind form the desert. He will drive them out of the land. This judgment is the portion that the Lord has measured out for the nation. The Hebrew word goral is translated as lot and refers to a lot that is cast. The judgment that is coming is not just by chance, it is a deliberate act of the Lord.1 The reason given, why Judah faces this fate is because you have forgotten me and trusted in lies. The Hebrew word used is seqer (lies) and is a familiar word in Jeremiah, referring often to Baal. The people have turned from the Lord to other gods.
