Do we see how badly we need to know and believe in the good, the righteous king? He was the one who did not take the road of personal advantage, convenience, or cultural conformity. He took the good way, of observing God’s instruction, making himself accountable to God, saying, Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.
He lived completely free from the filth and evil of our passage. He did what was right in God’s eyes. And that was no clearer than in his offering up of his own life, as a sacrifice, for the love of his bride. He presented his body to be broken, bloodied, pierced, and crushed, for us and in our place. Do you see your Saviour, the one whose unanswered cries on the cross were not only for himself but also and especially for you? Do you see the Bridegroom who gave up everything for his bride?
