The invading enemy is going to bring such destruction on Judah that they will not be able to bury their dead quickly enough. Corpses will have to be left exposed as food for the birds of the air, and for the beasts of the earth, and none will frighten them away.
The curse of the broken covenant will become reality in Judah: And your dead shall be food for all the birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away
(Deuteronomy 28:26).1
