The Lord did not command human sacrifice. In fact, his law forbade it. But it seems that some in Jeremiah’s day were trying to justify it as acceptable to the Lord. The Lord therefore says that it did not come into my mind.
This evil would never even cross his mind. Nothing like this has any place in his character; it certainly would not come from him, and it has no place among his people.
