Jeremiah will speak to the people as the prophet sent by the Lord, but the Lord tells Jeremiah that they will not listen to him. Jeremiah will call them to faithfulness, but they will not answer the call. Jeremiah will tell them that they are the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and did not accept discipline from him. Similar to what happens with Isaiah, the Lord’s word to his people has become a word that affirms them in their disobedience, even when that word offers the opportunity to repent (Isaiah 6:8–13).
26 Mais ils ne m'ont point écouté, ils n'ont point prêté l'oreille; Ils ont raidi leur cou, Ils ont fait le mal plus que leurs pères.
