The nation is called rejected silver, for the Lord has rejected them.
Despite continual refining no pure silver is produced, but only impure rejected silver. The Lord’s judgment will not be a refining process, but rather will lead to the nation being cast away as dross.1 Purification of the nation is impossible, so judgment must come.
