To put Jesus’ words into practice is to live in obedience to what he has taught/commanded. This is compared to building a house on a rock. The image of a rock is often used in the Bible for the security Israel had in God if they obeyed him (Deuteronomy 32:4, Deuteronomy 32:18, Deuteronomy 32:31; Psalm 18:2, Psalm 18:31, Psalm 18:46; Psalm 19:14), especially in a time of flood or disaster (Isaiah 28:14–19).1
24 C'est pourquoi, quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis et les met en pratique, sera semblable à un homme prudent qui a bâti sa maison sur le roc.
